Add a pinch of Grape Tree

Autumn is the official season of comfort food. Raining outside? Let’s eat. Kids are bored? Bake a cake. Feeling chilly? Massive pot of stew. It’s all about what you can cook up with what’s in front of you. Grape Tree is the crowning companion to have when it comes to autumn cooking, with delicious ‘Feel Good Food’. I’ve done some of the work for you by finding some delicious recipes to turn those mere bags of nuts, jars of spices and pots of seeds into masterpieces the whole family can indulge in.

Double Pumpkin Cornbread with Red Onion

Autumn means Halloween. Halloween means Pumpkins. Pumpkins mean Pumpkin seeds. And pumpkin seeds mean delicious Double Pumpkin Cornbread with Red Onion. This is a much less scary and much more tasty way to celebrate Halloween this year and perfect as a tear and share.

Grape Tree love pumpkin seeds. ‘Pumpkin Seeds are an important source of zinc, vital in warding off osteoporosis. They contain L-tryptophan, which is linked to lowering and combating depression as well as containing phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, iron and copper.’

At £6.99 for 1kg

Lentil Meatballs

Lentils could be considered one of the loneliest and most neglected ingredients in the kitchen cupboard. So why not turn them into something every one loves - meatballs! Well… lentilballs! Serve with courgetti instead of spaghetti and this fun dish will keep the kids too occupied to figure out that what’s on their plate is healthy!

Grape Tree - ‘Red lentils, green lentils and black lentils are a great source of vegetarian protein and rich in dietary fibre.’

At £1.19 for 400g

Slow Cooker Beef Stew

There is truly nothing more heartwarming than curling up under your blanket with a bowl of stew and a piece of bread. Those huge pieces of carrot, potato and beef are really what make a stew. Plus, this dish is a great way to feed many mouths.

Grape Tree have a delicious range of herbs and spices.

Apple Pie Chia Seed Pudding

While some of us are able to eat ice cream at any time of year, no matter the weather; the majority seek more warm and comforting ways to satisfy those sweet cravings during colder weather.

If you could put autumn in a bowl it would be this. Apples are the ultimate autumn fruit, and let’s not forget that Chia seeds have become a God to the health craze world, as an enormously beneficial super food.

Grape Tree - ‘Chia seeds are one of the most powerful, functional, and nutritious super foods in the world. Whole Chia Seeds are excellent source of fibre, packed with antioxidants, full of protein, loaded with vitamins and minerals, and the richest known plant source of omega-3 fatty acids.’

At £2.99 for 400g

Raw Vanilla Goji Berry Balls

Another super food that has to be mentioned are Goji berries. Make them into tea, juice or wine, bake them into cakes, bread or biscuits or even eat them on their own. Or if you’re feeling a little bit more naughty… make these delicious Vanilla and Goji berry balls; the perfect snack for little hands.

At £5.99 for 400g

Vanilla Matcha Cashew Milk

Lastly, I have given you the ultimate comfort food and the ultimate super food. What about an ultimate super drink?

Matcha Green Tea is made by grinding down green tea leaves. This matcha powder can be used in baking, or to make a very awe-inspiring looking smoothie, like this Vanilla Matcha and Cashew milk, or even a latte.

Grape Tree - ‘Matcha is rich in antioxidants, extremely calming and energising, metabolism boosting and gives you happy healthy skin.’

At £7.99 for 30g

These are just a few of the delightfully appetising things that can be made with just SOME of the ingredients, snacks and accompaniments that Grape Tree sell. Visit in store or online to continue your health-food adventure

Chippenham independent menswear brand celebrates first birthday at Emery Gate

Independent men’s fashion retailer Outfit78 is celebrating its first birthday at Chippenham town centre’s Emery Gate shopping centre this week.

The shop launched at the centre last March in the store formerly owned by much-loved fashion retailer Peter Emms, which served the local community for nearly 40 years. And now Aaron Gale, owner of Outfit 78 is hoping to improve upon this record.

He said: “We’re so pleased to have reached our first birthday here at Emery Gate. There are a lot of doom and gloom stories about the British high street at the moment but I think our success shows that there is still a place for shops like us that offer a variety of labels under one roof and a really personalised service that you don’t often see these days.”

Nicola Milne, centre manager at Emery Gate added: “We’re delighted that Outfit78 has not only survived but thrived in its first year. We pride ourselves in offering a home to a number of local independent brands and feedback tells us that this is a major attraction for our customers. We hope that this is the first of many years at Emery Gate for Aaron and the team.”

The success of Outfit78 is especially poignant for Aaron, who has been in remission from testicular cancer for four years. He concluded: “This year has been hard work, but it has definitely been worth it. We’ve loved getting to know all our customers and hope to get to know many more in the years to come.”

Outfit78 offers a range of designer menswear brands, such as Luke1977, Lyle & Scott, Gym King, SikSilk, Mish Mash & Kings Will Dream. They are located near Emery Gate’s High Street entrance in the centre of Chippenham.

Brand new independent men's fashion store opens in Chippenham

Outfit78 is the new independent men’s fashion brand in Chippenham.  It’s fresh, new and brings some of the best labels to the Wiltshire men’s fashion scene.

It's old fashioned values are rooted in the store's predecessor, Peter Emms, who had been loyally serving the local community for nearly 40 years. Peter Emms retired earlier this year, and his store has been taken over by local man Aaron Gale. Aaron is keen to retain the essence of Peter Emms, in providing a friendly, trustworthy customer service along with the best labels that only an independent retailer can offer.

It’s been quite a story for Aaron, who, as a young man, used to work Saturdays in the store and now finds himself heading up and running the Outfit78 brand.

The new venture heralds a bright new future for Aaron, who has had to overcome adversity in recent years.  Aaron was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer in May 2013, there followed surgery and months of chemotherapy. He has now been in remission for 3 years and after a long wait even managed to beat the odds by adding to his cherished family, when his second child arrived in April last year.

Commenting on his new venture, Aaron said “It’s been bittersweet for me, like so many other men in Chippenham I have been a loyal customer to Peter Emms over the years, it’s sad to see him retire. But in the same breath, I’m very excited and can’t wait to put my own stamp on the store and am looking forward to getting to know all of our current and new customers”.

Outfit78 have already been busy, working on bringing in new brands to join their in-demand labels such as Lyle & Scott, Luke1977, Gym King and 11 Degrees.

You can find the store in Emery Gate Shopping Centre, close to the High Street entrance in the centre of Chippenham.

You can follow Outfit78's Facebook page to keep up-to-date with the latest fashion arrivals

We have teamed up with Chippenham Connected to bring families the chance to meet the Easter Bunny – right in the heart of Emery Gate.

That’s right folks – the Easter Bunny is taking some time out of his busy schedule to hop along to Chippenham on Saturday 15th April and join the Mad Hatter & Friends in the Town Centre. He will be meeting boys and girls between 11:30am and 3:30pm, presenting them with a delicious chocolate egg*. You’ll also have the chance to have your photo taken with the busy bunny too, so don’t forget to bring a camera or snap the moment on your smartphone!

Nicola Milne, Emery Gate Shopping Manager, is as excited as we are about the prospect of meeting the Easter Bunny:

“Bringing the Easter Bunny to Emery Gate will be great fun and we can’t wait to see the children’s faces on the day. Easter is a time for celebration and we hope this kick-starts the holiday nicely for everyone to enjoy!”

This completely FREE event is brought to you by Chippenham Connected and Emery Gate Shopping Centre. There will also be the opportunity to create your very own Easter egg with a little chick, and enjoy other Easter crafts within the shopping centre.

Simon Philpott, Chippenham Connected Manager, said:

“I am excited that we are putting Easter firmly back in the calendar by making it the focal point of one of our major events this year. Our goal is to create a festival atmosphere for our town that will last throughout the year as we deliver many more events like this.”

Not only is the Easter Bunny visiting Chippenham, we also have the Mad Hatter and his friends taking over the Market Place for a tea party with a twist, with Easter activities at Borough Parade, throughout Chippenham’s High Street, New Road and Hathaway Retail park – including some cute live bunnies at Jollyes Petfood Superstore.

Winners of ‘Faces of Emery Gate’ competition announced

Emery Gate Shopping Centre is delighted to announce the winners of our 2016 Faces of Emery Gate modelling competition.

The winners are Kyle Reynolds, aged 19 from Poplar College, local mum-of-two Rachael Martin, from Chippenham and Becky Holdsworth, a 23-year-old Chippenham native who has recently returned to her hometown after finishing her Master’s degree at King’s College, London.

As part of the prize, the trio enjoyed a professional photo shoot, a professional make over and took home £300 of high street shopping vouchers. The three winners will also have their images used in advertising campaigns across the centre over the next 12 months.

Winning the competition was especially sweet for Kyle, who was diagnosed with global developmental delay as a youngster and has undergone a number of operations to try to alleviate a variety of significant health issues such as curvature of the spine. Kyle attends Poplar College, a Special Education School for pupils up the age of 19 who live with a variety of physical and mental challenges.

His mum, Victoria Reynolds explained: “Kyle has been through so much in his lifetime. He was pronounced dead twice on the operating table and even had to learn to walk again after being in a wheelchair for four years  – when he took that first step it felt like a miracle.

“I’m certainly not surprised he’s won this competition though as he’s quite the go getter and never lets anything stop him. And now he can add ‘award winning model’ to his list of achievements.”

Phil Maclean, Retail Marketing Manager of Emery Gate Shopping Centre added: “We’ve absolutely loved running this competition and picking just three people to be the faces of Emery Gate was certainly no mean feat.

“We wanted to encourage a broad cross section of the local people to apply, whether young or old, disabled or able-bodied and of any background and that’s exactly what we got. Our winners are all great and shoppers can expect to see them strutting their stuff in our adverts very soon!”

Emery Gate Santa goes back to school!

Emery Gate’s resident Santa, Nigel Ingles, went back to school this week to learn Christmas themed Makaton sign language.

The Bristol-based course, run by Better Communication Bristol, taught Santa’s from throughout the region, both a greater understanding of the communication challenges some children face in public situations and a bank of basic signs and symbols.  With Emery Gate’s Christmas Grotto set to start on the 25th November, Santa was also equipped with the necessary Christmas themed signs to make the grotto experience as enjoy as possible for all children.

Phil Maclean, Retail Marketing Manager at Emery Gate, said ‘Every child needs to tell Santa what they’d like in their stockings, learning some basic signs can transform a grotto experience for a child with communication difficulties and we hope this will go a small way to do that. We are so grateful to Nigel for making such an effort after all these years away from the classroom!”.

Makaton is a language programme designed to provide a means of communication to individuals who cannot communicate efficiently by speaking. The Makaton language programme has been effectively used with individuals who have cognitive impairments, Autism, Down Syndrome, specific language impairment, multisensory impairment and acquired neurological disorders that have negatively affected the ability to communicate, including stroke patients.

The annual Emery Gate Christmas Grotto is set to start on 25th November with all profits donated to local causes. Last year Emery Gate used its profits to exclusively hire Europe’s largest trampoline park, Airhop in Bristol, for students from Poplar College, Chippenham to enjoy.
