Emery Gate Shopping Centre is delighted to announce the winners of our 2016 Faces of Emery Gate modelling competition.
The winners are Kyle Reynolds, aged 19 from Poplar College, local mum-of-two Rachael Martin, from Chippenham and Becky Holdsworth, a 23-year-old Chippenham native who has recently returned to her hometown after finishing her Master’s degree at King’s College, London.
As part of the prize, the trio enjoyed a professional photo shoot, a professional make over and took home £300 of high street shopping vouchers. The three winners will also have their images used in advertising campaigns across the centre over the next 12 months.
Winning the competition was especially sweet for Kyle, who was diagnosed with global developmental delay as a youngster and has undergone a number of operations to try to alleviate a variety of significant health issues such as curvature of the spine. Kyle attends Poplar College, a Special Education School for pupils up the age of 19 who live with a variety of physical and mental challenges.
His mum, Victoria Reynolds explained: “Kyle has been through so much in his lifetime. He was pronounced dead twice on the operating table and even had to learn to walk again after being in a wheelchair for four years – when he took that first step it felt like a miracle.
“I’m certainly not surprised he’s won this competition though as he’s quite the go getter and never lets anything stop him. And now he can add ‘award winning model’ to his list of achievements.”
Phil Maclean, Retail Marketing Manager of Emery Gate Shopping Centre added: “We’ve absolutely loved running this competition and picking just three people to be the faces of Emery Gate was certainly no mean feat.
“We wanted to encourage a broad cross section of the local people to apply, whether young or old, disabled or able-bodied and of any background and that’s exactly what we got. Our winners are all great and shoppers can expect to see them strutting their stuff in our adverts very soon!”
