Emery Gate’s charity Christmas Grotto will return to the shopping centre next week, and this year the lucky recipient of all profits raised is Chippenham Birthing Centre.

All profits from the grotto will go to the centre, where they will be used to help modernise the facilities and raise money for a brand new birthing pool.

The grotto launches alongside the Christmas light switch-on event on Friday 24th November and will run every weekend (10am – 4pm on Saturdays and 11am – 3pm on Sundays) till Sunday 17th December. In the final week before Christmas (18th – 23rd) it will run every day 10am till 4pm. The final chance to put in a last minute request to Santa will be on Christmas Eve, when the grotto will run 11am – 3pm. Entry costs just £3.50 per child (including gift) and is cash only.

Discussing the grotto, Nicola Milne, centre manager at Emery Gate said: “Every year, we try to raise money for a local cause through our grotto and given that Christmas is such an important time for families, we thought it would be a great idea to support Chippenham Birthing Centre.

“A good birth experience can help with everything from bonding with your baby to staving off post-natal depression and we really hope that the funds used can help support local mums and babies in enjoying the best possible start in life.”

Pam Walsh, Midwifery Sister at Chippenham Birthing Centre, added: “We were thrilled when we heard that we were chosen as the recipient of the funds raised through Emery Gate’s Christmas grotto.

“We are proud and pleased that the Chippenham community and our staff here at the birth centre are supporting to raise the funds for this fabulous cause”.
